What began as undeveloped agricultural land has been transformed into a thriving eco and game farm, built with vision, passion, and family at its core. The farm spans approximately 500 hectares, blending cultivated land with vast stretches of untouched Cape fynbos and renosterbos. Six species of indigenous proteas thrive alongside carefully established evergreen grasses, creating a resilient and visually striking environment that supports wildlife year-round.
Fauna & Biodiversity
Melkhoutriver is home to nearly 250 animals across 17 species, all roaming freely on natural grazing without supplementary feeding. Approved by Cape Nature under a comprehensive game management plan, the farm continues to grow its species diversity while maintaining ecological balance and ethical conservation practices.
Farming & Sustainability
At the heart of the farm lies a rare natural freshwater spring, producing approximately 200,000 litres of pristine water daily. This lifeline supports households, wildlife, and sustainable farming, including lucerne fields planted as a natural drought and fire contingency, ensuring long-term resilience and responsible land stewardship.
